I have just returned from an amazing trip to Iran, to the north-east Iran more specifically, where the mountains rise from the Caspian Sea with trees so big and full of green I have never seen before. More pictures to come.

Some random snaps from the last days: trips to art centers, old shops and gardens of Paris are exciting especially when there is just no possibility to travel elsewhere (read: to Finland).

Kairouan streets

Some more photos of the miraculous Kairouan.. So many new things and colours. Blue was said to be anti-mosquito colour.. After a day walking on the streets my head was full of little sand that I thought was coming from the desert outside the city. These photos are from the Medina- old part of town.

Kairouan is an old artisanal town with beautiful carpets, wool, fabrics, jewellery, leather, silver and gold. Like a treasure box. I bought a carpet made of camel wool, and some wool to knit something for winter. I didn't have time to go to hammam since I was so into photography but next time then.

When I photograph a new thing, especially if I have only one week like here, I concentrated fully on making a good photographic work- I really hope it works out fine. We were about 30 photographers from Europe and Africa- and we also had local guides to help us.

Dehors de toute

I'm in love with The South of France! It makes me so happy to go there, maybe not to live but to see.. It feels so different from Paris and all the materials, light and surroundings are so inspiring. Now I'm preparing myself to other residency, a short one in Africa. And I have been applying to other ones too. We will see how much I get to travel this year.

Now inspiring me is obviously the spring in Paris, so simple but effective, colours coming to life, the energy and the warmth.

These photos I took last september in Marseille, it's always nice to go back with these. I have been photographing a lot on film lately, and not yet developing, feels good to be in a photographing mode..
